Electronic tuners can detect the sound of a string and it will let you know through a display whether the note is either too low (flat) or too high (sharp). This will definitely make it easier for you to tune your guitar since you might have difficulty in deciding on the sound of the string just
by listening when you do not have much experience yet. When you purchase a guitar tuner, it make the tuning process easier, faster and more accurate.

As a beginner, using the easiest and convenient tuning method is highly recommended. However, when you have gained more experience and start to play with other people, there are other alternative tuning methods which are available. If you do not have the money or do not want to buy an electric tuner, there are a many ways to manually tune your instrument. These ways are relative tuning which means tuning your guitar with a piano, pitch pipes, keyboards, tuning forks, intervals and harmonics.
