Play Easy Guitar Songs After Learning Scales

In order for you to play easy guitar songs, you will need to learn how to play scales first. A “scale” is a group of notes that are played in succession in ascending or descending order. There are any types of scales. Each scale has unique characteristics , musical qualities, and note patterns. Scales help you to improve your guitar playing techniques. Practicing and playing scales can be boring sometimes but if you persist, you can do it.

Scales helps to make your fingers stronger, improves your ability to learn advanced techniques such as guitar solos and improve hand-eye coordination.

The most common scale is known as the chromatic scale.

In order to start playing the chromatic scale, you have to :

1) Start by playing the sixth string “open”

2) Use your index finger on your fretting hand (left hand if you are right handed) and press down the first fret on the number six string and pluck it again.

3) Then use the middle finger, press down the sixth string at the second fret and play the sixth string again.

4) Now use the ring finger to press down the third fret and play the sixth string.

5) Lastly, use your last finger / pinkie finger to press down the fourth fret and play the sixth string again.

6) Repeat all these steps with all the other strings.

Congratulations! You have just played your first scale and will soon be going on to play easy guitar songs. This may not mean much to you now but you will soon realize how important it is to practice your scales before playing any songs. There are other types of scales that you will have to learn later which includes Major Scales and the Minor Pentatonic Scales.

After you have learned your notes, scales and chords, you are now ready to play easy guitar songs.
